Miamisburg Pitchers Set School Record in 2017
This past baseball season, the Miamisburg pitchers broke a 59-year old record. In 1959, the team set the lowest Earned Run Average (ERA) at 1.73. In 2017, the pitching staff recorded an unbelivable 1.46 ERA. All season, the pitchers kept the Vikings within striking distance by throwing many strikes and keeping the hitters off-balance.
During this record-breaking season, senior Ryan Slaughenhaupt and Duncan Hall etched their names in the record books as well. Senior Ryan Slaughenhaupt finished the season with a 0.92 ERA, which ranks third best all time and lowest ever by a Vikings senior. Sophomore Duncan Hall finished the season with the 10th best ERA in school history with a 1.26, which is also the best ERA ever by a sophomore. These two also put their names in the record books for WHIP (Walks, Hits per Innings Pitched). Ryan finished with a 0.92 which is 5th best all-time and Duncan finished with a 1.11 which is 10th best all-time.
The entire pitching staff contributed and performed well all season. Their hard work in the off-season and their dedication to perfect their craft made them extremely effective. They have set the bar even higher for those that choose to follow them. The record-setting pitching staff includes:
Ryan Slaughenhaupt – Senior Cruz Poeppelman - Senior Chris Meyers - Senior
Justin Cooper – Senior Ty Grimes - Senior Austin Turner - Senior
Mike Lauofo – Senior Duncan Hall - Sophomore Dylan Wudke - Sophomore
Clayton Black – Sophomore
